MSM Side Effects Explained

MSM side effects relate more at the level of an irritation than anything more serious.

In some people, MSM supplementation can lead to excess wind. In this instance, it may be helpful to reduce the dosage until the body adjusts.

There are no known serious MSM side effects. Extremely large doses have been taken in a series of studies done by Dr. Jacobs at the Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Oregon. Up to 1gm per kilogram of body weight for 30 days has been taken.

This is a lot more than is recommended for any condition that benefits with MSM supplements.

In mice, the lethal dose of MSM is over 20 gm per kilogram of bodyweight. This can be compared to the toxicity of table salt at 2.5gm per kilogram of bodyweight. MSM is very safe.
